Acne is a skin condition that occurs in
not only teenagers but in many adults as well. If you are
one of the many adults suffering from chronic acne, then
you need not fret about this as there are many adults out
there suffering from the same condition.
There are many reasons for the start of
chronic acne type and why it never seems to get cured. In
fact, many times it is the wrong treatment that leads to
chronic cases of acne. Acne sufferers think that regular
washing and cleansing of the face helps in controlling acne.
However, this is not true; in fact, by over washing your
face, you only lead to more of acne.
Excessive washing leads to more acne.
This is because by washing your face frequently,
it leads to an excessive production of sebum which in turn
leads to blocking of the pores. It is instead better to
not wash the face more than twice a day, once in the morning
and another time at night.
It is important that you use the right
cleanser to cure chronic cases of acne. Too much of salicylic
acid in the cleanser makes it abrasive. It is better to
use a cleanser with glycerin in it as it moisturizes the
skin pores and prevents over drying of the skin when washing
it.
How to pop pimples.
Now that you know how to cleanse your skin,
it is important to remember not to pop pimples to control
chronic cases of acne. Many people tend to pop pimples till
pus and blood oozes from the pimples. This is not at all
advised for acne sufferers as this pus and blood can lead
to more pimples.
Instead, gently squeeze the pimples while
holding a tissue at hand to keep the pimple as clean as
possible. Once there is pus or blood in the pimple, dab
some benzoyl peroxide or alcohol on the pimple to dry up
the pimple quickly, and kill any bacteria in the pimple.
The importance of diet in controlling acne.
In addition to all this, it is necessary
to follow a healthy diet with as much water as possible.
Eat more of fruits and vegetables as it helps detoxify the
skin. Avoid sugar and complex carbohydrates as it only releases
hormones to the blood stream which in turn alleviate the
production of sebum and thus, more acne.
Then of course, it is important to use
an effective over the counter product to treat your
acne type. It is better to use the principle
of trial and error to find the right product for your acne
type as people with different types of skin and different
types of acne require different types of OTC products to
treat their acne condition.
